Our Story
Early in 2025, a musician very close to our hearts, living with dementia, felt that he had to retire from a lifetime of performing and delighting audiences. But as his musical skills were undiminished, he wanted to stay engaged in music. That's why Melodies in Mind was born, so that people living with dementia could continue making music in an enjoyable and creative environment.
We found inspiration through Giving Voice Initiative, a Minnesota-based organization which inspires many such groups around the country.
Our Mission
Melodies in Mind brings people living with dementia, their caregivers, and experienced volunteer singers together to create meaningful musical experiences within a welcoming choral community. By making music side by side, we demonstrate that a dementia diagnosis does not define a person and that every voice continues to matter.
